Adults with developmental disabilities achieve greater independent living at over 40 JFSA supported residential sites in Cuyahoga, Summit and Geauga counties.
Residential Housing Options
JFSA offers several types of residential housing options available for adults with developmental disabilities, customized to fit individual needs and wishes. Group Home, Supported Living and Independent Living models provide traditional support, but unique living arrangements and supports can be created.
Group Homes
These are shared living environments where a small number of adults live together. Support staff is available 24/7 to assist with daily living activities, medication management, and other personal needs.
Supported Living
In this arrangement, individuals live in their own apartment or home or with 2-4 adults with developmental disabilities, but receive support from staff for certain hours of the day. Support can include help with finances, transportation, job coaching, and daily living skills.
Independent Living
Some adults may live completely independently or with minimal support, such as check-ins from a caregiver or access to emergency support services. This is suitable for individuals who can manage their daily needs with little assistance. 24/7 on-call supervisory staff is available when needed.
Types of Support
JFSA staff assist individuals in all areas of daily living including shopping, food preparation, household management, housekeeping, cooking, and cleaning. In addition, staff can assist with personal care and coordination of health care, including nursing services. Mental health services including counseling and case management are also available.
